Uttarakhand’s First Semi-High Speed Vande Bharat Express Connects Dehradun to Delhi


In a virtual ceremony held on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Uttarakhand’s inaugural semi-high speed Vande Bharat Express, connecting the picturesque city of Dehradun with the bustling national capital, New Delhi. The train, which departed at 11 am, marks a significant milestone in Uttarakhand’s transportation infrastructure.

Enhanced Connectivity for Uttarakhand:

The launch of the Vande Bharat Express promises a substantial boost to Uttarakhand’s connectivity. Ahead of the event, PM Modi took to Twitter and expressed his excitement, stating, “Uttarakhand’s connectivity is all set to get a big boost. At 11 am today, I will be flagging off the Vande Bharat Express between Delhi and Dehradun. Making the occasion even more special is the feat of 100% electrification of Uttarakhand’s rail tracks. Complete Electrification of Rail Routes:

In line with his vision to promote cleaner modes of public transportation and electrify rail routes across the country, PM Modi will also dedicate the newly electrified rail line sections in Uttarakhand. This milestone achievement ensures that the entire rail network in the state is now 100% electrified, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.

Uttarakhand’s First Vande Bharat Train:

The semi-high speed Vande Bharat Express is not only Uttarakhand’s maiden venture but also the 17th train of its kind in India. The train embarked on its inaugural journey from Dehradun to Delhi’s Anand Vihar terminal. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) confirmed that the Vande Bharat Express is equipped with world-class amenities, offering passengers a new level of comfort, particularly for tourists exploring the state. Manufactured domestically, the train boasts advanced safety features, including the state-of-the-art Kavach technology.

Journey Duration:

According to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), regular operations for the Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express will commence on May 29. Passengers traveling on this route can expect a journey time of four hours and forty-five minutes, covering a distance of 302 km. The train will operate six days a week, excluding Wednesdays, providing a convenient and efficient travel option for commuters.

Timings and Stoppages:

The inaugural Vande Bharat Express from Uttarakhand is scheduled to depart from Dehradun at 07:00 am, reaching Delhi’s Anand Vihar terminal at 11:45 am. On the return journey, it will depart from Anand Vihar at 05:50 pm and arrive at Dehradun by 10:35 pm. The train will make stops at Meerut City, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Roorkee, and Haridwar, enabling passengers to embark and disembark at these important stations.


The ticket fare for an AC chair seat from Delhi to Dehradun is set at ₹1,065, while an executive chair car ticket will cost ₹1,890, providing passengers with comfortable and affordable travel options.
